Lamb and Pig Sales By – the – Pound this and Every Summer Sunday

You can enjoy lamb or pig slowly roasted old country style every Sunday this summer, thanks to our dedicated volunteers. Sold by the pound only, you can pre-order by calling the church office weekdays at 219-736-9191. Pick up your orders in the north building kitchen after church. Let your friends and neighbors know. Supplies limited, so order ahead or show up early.

The Executive Board would once again like to thank Milan Tomich and his committee for preparing and selling delicious lamb/pig each weekend.

Be Creative for a Cause – St. Archangel Michael Hosts Benefit for Lifeline

What a great way to spend an afternoon, and you’ll be helping the efforts of Lifeline Humanitarian Organization. Enjoy a light luncheon buffet as you paint your way through to a final masterpiece under the guidance of artist Milena Tatic Bajich.. Encourage your daughters, mothers, and friends to participate. Event date is Sunday, June 22nd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Archangel Michael in Lansing. Lifeline has directly helped Serbian orphans and victims of war and natural disasters. Details below.

100 Year Old St. Sava Member Alma Milisavljevic Funeral Arrangements

Alma Milisavljevic (nee Wolf), age 100 of Hobart passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 9, 2014. She was born on January 12, 1914 in Moscow, Russia to the late Andrew and Elizabeth Wolf.

Alma was preceded in death by her Loving Husband Mirko in 2011.

Alma is survived by three children, Loving Daughter, Angela Spurling, Hobart, Violette (Tom) Stroumbakis, Crown Point and Andy Milisavljevic of Arkansas; 3 Grandchildren, Devoted Granddaughter Dena L. Gary, Hobart, Natalie (George) Drake and Sonya (Rob) Thomas all of Georgia and 5 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving extended family in Russia and Germany as well as Kumovi and many lifelong friends.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville, In with V. Rev. Marko Matic officiating. At rest, Oak Hill Cemetery, Gary. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Pomen service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342. Alma had been a Hobart resident for 35 years. She came to the United States in 1951 with her Beloved Mirko and 2 daughters, and settled in East Chicago until moving to Gary, IN where they raised their children and Andy would be born.

Alma became a devoted member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church when it was originally located at 13th and Connecticut in Gary. She was an active member of the St. Sava Serbian Sister’s Circle as well as the “Kolo” group to help bake delicious pastries. She was also a support member of the Karageorge Choir as well as The Serbian Pioneer and Republic Clubs.

Alma retired from the former Mercy Hospital in Gary in 1970. She also worked for Queen Ann Candy Factory as well as a Bookkeeper for Blaw Knox in East Chicago where Mirko retired.
On January 12, 2014, Alma celebrated her Milestone 100th Birthday with friends and family that included her Two Great Grandchildren closest to her, Anthony and Alex Gary.

A special Thank You to the Nurses, Doctors and Staff at Sebo’s Nursing Home, St. Mary Medical Center and Harbor Light Hospice.

Alma will forever be remembered as a Loving Wife and Devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She also leaves behind delicious recipes that will be handed down for generations.
Not only did she live a very full life, but she truly appreciated the simple things life had to offer.
Dearest Mama Alla, May God Grant You Eternal Peace and We Will Never Forget What You Taught Us All…”Costs Nothing To Give A Smile”. We Love You and Will Never Forget You.
