Kolo Sisters

The Serbian Sisters Circle 2016 Executive Board took the oath of office Sunday, March 6 at St. Sava Church in Merrillville, Indiana.

Sandy Shinovich will lead the group in the role of President through their various numerous service and fundraising activities this year, including the Bake Sale taking place Saturday, March 19 (Click to learn more about the Bake Sale).

The Serbian Sisters Circle at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Merrillville, Indiana will host their Annual Meeting and elect the new leadership to serve throughout 2016. The meeting will take place Sunday, Jan. 31 after the luncheon following the Divine Liturgy. All Kolo Sisters are encouraged to attend.

The luncheon will take place in the South Wing Social Center. The meeting will take place in the North Wing Conference Room.

The Serbian Sisters Circle has had a successful year of fundraising through their tireless efforts throughout the year and have offered tremendous support to the many organizations dedicated to making the St. Sava Church-School community stronger.

The Annual Christmas Luncheon for the Serbian Sisters Circle of St. Sava Church will take place Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Innsbrook Country Club in Merrillville, IN.

This annual luncheon has been a tradition for years and it is an opportunity to celebrate the Christmas season, but to also honor and recognize the tireless work the women perform year round in support of St. Sava Church.

All women involved in Kolo are encouraged to attend, along with their guests. The luncheon is buffet style and the cost is $20 per person. RSVP is required and since the event is only days away, it is important to call Milena Ivanovic at 219-588-2259 as soon as possible to be included in this special event.

Divine Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. with a blessing of Slavski Kolach and Parastos. A luncheon will follow immediately after the services.

This is a great opportunity to show appreciation for our seniors, hear stories of so much great history, and share in the fellowship with the people who have helped build the vibrant spirit and culture of St. Sava Church. The Merrillville St. Sava Kolo Sisters will have a meeting taking place this coming Sunday, Oct. 11 following the Divine Liturgy and luncheon to discuss and organize several special upcoming events.

The meeting will focus primarily on the planning for the upcoming Kolo Slava celebration taking place Sunday, Oct. 25 and will include a banquet at St. Sava following the Divine Liturgy. The Kolo Sisters are actively seeking the donation of pastries for the Oct. 25 celebration.

Also on the agenda for this Sunday’s meeting will be discussion about the annual Kolo Bake Sale and Church Anniversary which will both take place in late November.
