Ewald Milisavljevich – Memory Eternal ✝ Vjecnaja Pamjat

The Clergy, Executive Board, and Members of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church express condolences to the family of Ewald Milisavljevich. Memory eternal.

Ewald Milisavljevich, age 72 of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.

He was born on March 27, 1943 in Bielefeld, Germany to the late Stanoje and Eleonore Milisavljevic. On November 26, 2014 Ewald celebrated his 50th year of membership with the Mason’s Lake Lodge #157 and he was also a PABG of Job’s Daughters Int. (44). Ewald was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed going to local car shows. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Margene Milisavljevich; children: Eric (Linda) Milisavljevich, Diane (Jim) Goodman, Sarah (Mike) Kralj; brother: Jugoslav (Terry) Milisavljevich; brother-in-law: George Sladic; grandchildren: Emily, Matthew, Andrew, Sophia; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Milka Sladic.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 24, 2015 10:00am DIRECTLY at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church (9191 Mississippi St, Merrillville, IN 46410) V.Rev. Marko Matic officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery (Merrillville, IN).

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Rendina Funeral Home (5100 Cleveland St. Gary, IN) with a prayer service at 5:00pm and a masonic memorial service to follow.

A short visitation will also be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church from 9:15am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lake Lodge 157.

100 Year Old St. Sava Member Alma Milisavljevic Funeral Arrangements

Alma Milisavljevic (nee Wolf), age 100 of Hobart passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 9, 2014. She was born on January 12, 1914 in Moscow, Russia to the late Andrew and Elizabeth Wolf.

Alma was preceded in death by her Loving Husband Mirko in 2011.

Alma is survived by three children, Loving Daughter, Angela Spurling, Hobart, Violette (Tom) Stroumbakis, Crown Point and Andy Milisavljevic of Arkansas; 3 Grandchildren, Devoted Granddaughter Dena L. Gary, Hobart, Natalie (George) Drake and Sonya (Rob) Thomas all of Georgia and 5 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving extended family in Russia and Germany as well as Kumovi and many lifelong friends.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville, In with V. Rev. Marko Matic officiating. Alma had been a Hobart resident for 35 years. She came to the United States in 1951 with her Beloved Mirko and 2 daughters, and settled in East Chicago until moving to Gary, IN where they raised their children and Andy would be born.

Alma became a devoted member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church when it was originally located at 13th and Connecticut in Gary. She was an active member of the St. Sava Serbian Sister’s Circle as well as the “Kolo” group to help bake delicious pastries. She was also a support member of the Karageorge Choir as well as The Serbian Pioneer and Republic Clubs.

Alma retired from the former Mercy Hospital in Gary in 1970. She also worked for Queen Ann Candy Factory as well as a Bookkeeper for Blaw Knox in East Chicago where Mirko retired.
On January 12, 2014, Alma celebrated her Milestone 100th Birthday with friends and family that included her Two Great Grandchildren closest to her, Anthony and Alex Gary.

A special Thank You to the Nurses, Doctors and Staff at Sebo’s Nursing Home, St. Mary Medical Center and Harbor Light Hospice.

Alma will forever be remembered as a Loving Wife and Devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She also leaves behind delicious recipes that will be handed down for generations.
Not only did she live a very full life, but she truly appreciated the simple things life had to offer.

Mildred Kosovich – Memory Eternal ✝ Vjecnaja Pamjat

The Clergy, Executive Board, and Members of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church express condolences to the family of Mildred Kosovich. Memory eternal.

Mildred Kosovich, age 92, of Hobart passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

She is survived by three loving sons: Walter (Suzanne) Kosovich of Greenfield, IN, Robert (Lynn) Kosovich of Portage, IN, and Kenneth (Stephanie) Kosovich of Tecumseh, MO; five grandchildren: Christopher, Kevin (Kristen), Kyle (Bethany), Ryan Kosovich, and Renee (John) Ankrom; seven great grandchildren: Alaina, Abbi, Andrew, Maya, Autumn, Israel, and Bryant; nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong family friends.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Walter; parents: Stojan and Draga Shiyan; and brothers: Steve and George.

Millie was a lifelong area resident and dedicated member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian Sisters Circle (Kolo). She was a homemaker and a retired member of the St. Mary Hospital kitchen staff.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville with V. Rev. Marko Matic officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point with a Pomen service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be donated to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church. Charlie Tesovic – Memory Eternal ✝ Vjecnaja Pamjat

The Clergy, Executive Board, and Members of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church express condolences to the family of Charlie Tesovic. Memory eternal.

Charles D. “Charlie” Tesovic, age 58, a former longtime Hobart resident, currently residing in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly Sunday March 2, 2014.

Charlie was a 1974 graduate of Hobart Senior High School. For over 20 years, he was employed by Union Tank and Caterpillar, INC. Since his childhood days he was an active member of St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and very supportive in all church activities in both Wisconsin and Indiana.

Many will remember Charlie spending lots of hours helping at the former St Sava Serbian Hall on 49th Avenue in Hobart. He was a lifelong member of King Peter II Lodge #16 of the SNF. Charlie will always be remembered as a true “people person” and friend to all. He will be missed very much.

His beloved wife, Svetlana (nee Todorovic) preceded him in death in 2004. Also preceded in death by his parents: Svetozar and Sophia Tesovic; and his nephew, March Leshner (1991).

Survivors include his loving children: Jelena (Aaron) Wright, Kristina Tesovic and Marko Tesovic; sisters: Mary (Shel) Leshner; Angie (John) DeVaney; sister in law, Vesna (Vlasto) Todorovic; several nieces, nephews, relatives, lifelong family friends and kumovi; also, special friend Gordana Pantelic.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 8, 2014, 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St, Merrillville with V. Rev Marko Matic officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery.

Ella B. Kosanovic – Memory Eternal ✝ Vjecnaja Pamjat

The Clergy, Executive Board, and Members of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church express condolences to the family of Ella B. Kosanovic. Memory eternal.

Ella B. Kosanovic (nee Hofferber), age 91, of Merrillville, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Spring Mill Health Center.

Through most of her life, she was a very devout, active and generous member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, and its Circle of Serbian Sisters. She and her late husband Mile were grand donors and great benefactors of St. Sava parish, and were equally as benevolent to the New Gracanica Diocese of Third Lake, IL.

She will be long remembered as “Kuma” of the main bell which was installed upon the construction of the new St. Sava church in Merrillville. In addition, Ella took an active part in numerous auxiliaries such as: “Karageorge” choir, Movement of Serbian Chetniks “Ravna Gora,” the Serbian National Defense Council and the former Serbian Pioneer Club.

After several years of dedicated service, she retired from U.S. Steel-Gary Works. Along with her husband Mile, she was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. Ella is survived by her Kumovi, the Gajo Manolovich family. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and other Kumovi.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 9 AM Directly at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi Street, Merrillville with V. Rev. Jovan Todorovich, Rev. Marko Matic and other local clergy members officiating. Interment, New Gracanica Cemetery, Third Lake, IL.

Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, under Savich & Semplinski Directors. A Pomen Service will be offered at 7 PM, Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Sava Church would be appreciated.

Nichole M. Ivankovich (nee Schaefer), age 29, of Portage, IN, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 6, 2007.

She was a loving wife and wonderful mother, daughter, sister and friend. Nichole truly loved being with children and was known as a special person who was enormously helpful to anyone in need. She was a member of St. Save Serbian Orthodox Church.

Nichole is survived by her beloved husband of seven years, Danny Ivankovich, Jr.; two children whom she totally adored: Lauren Daniel Ivankovich and Ryan Nicholas Ivankovich; dear parents: Al and Kathy Schaefer of Crown Point, IN; sister, Allison (fiance Bryon Nitcher) of Hobart, IN; brother, Jason (Emily) Schaefer of Hebron, IN; grandparents: Dan and Shirley Lang, Albert Schaefer, Patricia Kopp and “Baba” Mary Ivankovich; father-in-law, Danny (Mary Ann) Ivankovich; mother-in-law, Dawn (Jerry) Klemoff; special aunt, Mitzie Zakula and family; also many cousins, aunts, uncles, Kumovi, other relatives and lifelong friends.
